After graduating college I got a job as a PA on the Universal Studios set. It wasn’t glamorous all I had to do was pick things up and drop things off, but it did mean access to  a real film lot and the potential of movie stars. While that never happened I did have one great moment that completely validated all my television watching as a child. I was sent out to gather a list of props for a commercial and instructed to go a prop warehouse. Aisles and aisles of the most random things. One row just for plants: potted, hanging, plastic, realistic, exotic, you name they had the type of plant. After collecting everything I needed, I had to follow the warehouse manager to his office to sign paperwork. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed it, The Sundae Slide, from the Nickelodeon game show Double Dare. I dropped by bag and ran over to it, right next to the Human Hamster Wheel and other old set items. It was The Sundae Slide! I swear for a moment a heavenly light shone from above and angelic voices filled the air. The Sundae Slide! I dreamed of being on that silly show and winning the most awesomest of Reebok Pump shoes.
