I usually get the same 10 or so questions about the show.. so in no particular order, here are some of the most common asked questions about The Regular Guys (TRG) and Radio in general..
- Do TRG get along?
About as much as co-workers who spend 25 hours a week in a sound proof room can. Now do they all hang out on the weekends, no. However, everybody knows to make the show work, you have to play nice and be respectful.
- Has S.Side Steve Really Been With 400+ Women?
Well, I haven't seen it myself, but I would guess so. SSS is always surrounded by hot women, always. I think its even easier now because some laidies just want to be one of his numbers.. I guess this is kinda like getting a medal or something?
- What Time Do You Get Up?
Show starts at 6 am (6:07 for SSS), but I need to be there no later than 5:10. So I have 3 alarms; 4:20 (the get up alarm) 4:30 (no seriously, get up alarm) and 4:40 (get the F up your gonna be late!! alarm). I sleep till about 4:40.
- Who Does All the Voices?
Tim. Aside from ET, John Travolta, Steve's girlfriend (yew wanna scccrreeewww?), Satan, and a few others, its all Andrews. Big Fat Tim has a ton of Big Fat Talent when it comes to voices.
- Does Gary Lewis Get Mad When He is Mocked?
I guess not, since Tim still does his voice all the time. Plus Gary likes the attention, and yes, he really is our GM.
- How Far Away is The Little Bert Show?
About 20 feet down the hall, and
99x.com is just past that. I must say, we have some pretty damn impressive studios. I have seen some that were crapholes and we are lucky to have a lot of room and space.
- Is Sebas Really That Odd?
Yup. Most people can turn off the "douche bag" character when the mics are off, but not Capt. Creepy, he remains that way.
- Whats With the Damn Signal?!
Its something they have been dealing with since 100.5 FM signed on as Q100 nine years ago. Trust me, we know the signal sucks and the suits know the signal sucks. They are trying to do something about it every day. Its more complicated than getting a new tower, or just flipping a switch.
- How Can I be an Intern?
Email Tim. There are some restrictions thou.
- How Can I Get a Job?
Um... not to kill your dreams of being the next big thing in radio, but now is not the best time to be looking for your chance at big money and lots of airtime in Atlanta. The best advice I can give you is to go to a small market and work your ass off for free and learn as much as you can. I did my internship for 8 months, 40 hours a week, for free. And look where I am.. which now that I think about it, is really depressing.
- What Does Pateetong Mean? How Did You Get the Name Mixmaster?
I have seen it spelled 5 different ways, but Pateetong is the basic greeting for TRG show and fans. Its like saying "hey whats up." If you ever listen to Rush, he says "mega dittos" its kinda like that. Our own way of connecting to our fans.
I'm called Mixmaster because I run the board, and do most of the audio producing for the show (and hit all the sound effects).
- Are You Doing The Big Screen Again This Season? Can I Play a Game?
Yes I am back with the Braves for the 2009 season. The best way to get on the big screen is to wear Braves gear, be sober (for the most part), and be ok when we say no. You would be amazed how many drunk d-bags wearing Affliction t-shirts get pissed when we wont put their slobbering ass on the screen. I'll have a long blog about the How To's of Turner Field soon.
- Were You Phil T on The Bert Show?
Yup. He tragically died in a fireworks accident on PCB, while drinking a PBR.
- Why Do You Like UGA So Much, Even Thou You Didn't Go There?
People seem to love to hate my passion for UGA, which makes me a bigger fan. Truth is, I never wanted to go to college, but ended up at Shorter College in Rome for about 2 years before getting into radio full time. My love of UGA comes from my family. My Mom, brother, uncles, and tons of other family members went there. My little sister is there now. I have pics of me as a kid wearing UGA gear, so I guess I was born into it.
- Would You Like To Officially Be a "Regular Guy" One Day?
Sure. Maybe I can be the first producer with the title. Unless you count Tim but he is on the air full time, I'm more behind the scenes.
OK, I know that's more than 10, but its all I can think of off the top of my head.. Email me if you want to know something I missed.
Take it easy..
