So the Bulldogs are loosing Matt Stafford, Knowshon Moreno and Asher Allen to the NFL draft. I am 100% ok with this, and even more, I’m happy for them. Who the hell am I to tell someone to NOT go make money using their talent for the game they love. Either it happens now, or in a year from now. So lets start preparing our next crop of Silver Britches to hunker down.
 
However, I was shocked and mortified to see John Smoltz in a Red Sox hat. I understand this all came down to money. John wanted blank amount, the Braves offered less than blank, and Boston said, ok, here is blank plus some! So I understand why he left, and I hope Atlanta can get past it, but I still don’t like it. Its obvious our bullpen is struggling, and we need some young talent in a bad way. Lets not forget the “4 Aces” of the early 90’s, Smoltz, Avery, Maddux, and Glavine. These were the then young talents that started the amazing run for the Braves. That’s what we need again, and maybe this is a step in the right direction. If Smoltz becomes a hero in Boston, Frank Wren will be seen as a villain, however, if Smoltz cant shake the injury bug, and Derek Lowe is a superstar, Wren will be seen as a genius. So goes it in sports.
 
I love to gamble, and I love Vegas. I hit Sin City at least twice a year and I’m what you could call a super low roller. I stay and play downtown and unless with a female, rarely venture to The Strip. I like the old school charm of the blue-collar casinos with low table limits, and hotels that don’t take an hour to get to your room. So when a legislator proposed opening a casino at Underground Atlanta, you would think I would be excited. However, I think it’s a bad idea, truthfully, I think it’s a horrible idea. There is a place for a Casino in Georgia, but it’s not at Underground.
 Remember a few years ago when the city tried to revamp Underground as the new hotspot? That lasted all of 10 months before clubs and bars started closing and the “hip/cool” feel of Underground was lost. Granted, there are still some popular clubs and bars down below, but it’s for the locals, not the tourists. Fact is, I don’t feel safe at Underground. Unless it’s a huge event like New Years, a parade, or a concert, underground does not attract the crowds that I would feel safe around at 2 am in a casino (and yes, people gamble at 2 am).
 
My idea put a casino in the old GM or Ford plant. There is already plenty of room, easy access from a major highway, and parking galore. I hope I’m wrong, and I would love to see something open at Underground, and it is wildly successful. But I just don’t see it happening.
 
Finally, we need more interns. I did not know this, but apparently there is some sort of hierarchy in our intern system. Our interns have interns. Huh? Yeah, so if you want to come play with us in the morning, email me. The hours are rough, but its fun, and you get bragging rights, and school credit. Be advised, you may have an intern as a boss, whatever that means. Oh, and please leave your ego at the door. Lately, some of our interns have become a little too big for their britches, its really annoying, especially at 5 am.
