With the home opener set for this Friday, April 8 vs. the Philadelphia Phillies, the Atlanta Braves are getting into gear with brand new sights, food and merchandise stores for fans at Turner Field in 2011. New technology has arrived at Turner Field too and fans who have MLB.com at Bat 11 on their smart phones will be able to check in every game and receive exclusive in game offers for either free or discounted items, beginning with a free item on Opening Day.
Fans will be welcomed with four newly renovated food and beverage stands throughout the stadium, including McCann’s Burgers, Smokehouse BBQ, the Coors Light Rocky Mountain Beer Garden in Fan Plaza and the Camarena Tequila Stand.
Upgrading all of the televisions throughout Turner Field, originally installed during the 1996 Olympics, was an off season priority and now there are more than 700 flat screen HD TVs around the ballpark.
This year fans will also have the opportunity to become founding members of the Braves Country Club, the Official Fan Club of the Atlanta Braves. The largest of the new items at Turner Field isn’t an object, but an event - MLB has awarded the Atlanta Braves to host the Civil Rights Game in 2011 and 2012. This year the Braves will host the 5th annual Civil Rights Game against the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday, May 15, which will highlight the largest collection of Civil Rights Game activities in the five-year history of the event, beginning on May 11. More information about the Civil Rights Game and the complete schedule of events and activities for that week is available at braves.com/civilrights.
