Meet The Rock 100.5 Concert Correspondent

Peteetong, everybody!  I’m Intern Jerry from The Regular Guys Show.  I’m a huge music fan, and I love going to concerts in Atlanta and festivals around the country.  Here in my blog, I’ll bring you reviews of the shows that come through town and the festival trips I take throughout the summer.  I’ll be blogging about everyone from Miley Cyrus to The Flaming Lips to my trip to the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Tennessee.  I’ll keep the blog updated often, so check back soon!

Last Saturday, I saw one of the weirdest bands currently on tour. Philadelphia’s Man Man took over the Variety Playhouse for a night of psychedelic circus rock. They paraded around the stage wearing war paint and playing a variety of instruments including slide whistles, fire extinguishers, and all sorts of other noise makers. It was loud, rude, and ugly, and I loved it.

On Monday night, I went to Center Stage to check out a band I had never heard of, Sleigh Bells. Sleigh Bells is a high energy, noise-pop duo from Brooklyn featuring Derek Miller on guitar and drum machine and Alexis Krauss on vocals. The scene was a raucous dance party full of hipsters and dance freaks. 
Sleigh Bells’ set was cut short when Miller accidently smashed his guitar into Krauss’s head. To her credit, Krauss didn’t miss a beat and kept singing while holding a towel to her head for three more songs. She finally announced she needed to go get stitches and threw her bloody towel into the crowd. It was disgusting, but a few wild fans dove over each other to grab a rock n roll souvenir.
